Blogger Dynamic Views

Blogger offers seven dynamic ways to share your blog

Dynamic Views

Blogger Feature – Dynamic Views

Blogger offers you the ability to present your blog content in seven different views that display text and photos differently.

Blogger introduced Dynamic Views first in March 2011 with five blog views (FlipCard, Mosaic, Sidebar, Snapshot and Timeslide), and then added two new views (Classic and Magazine) in September 2011. In dynamic view the entire blog can be changed automatically with a click of a mouse and can be displayed in seven different looks.

The list of dynamic views are added to Blogger’s template editing section so that blog authors can replace their template with one of the seven views that are available.

Here’s a quick description of each of the dynamic views:

  • Classic: A modern twist on a traditional template, with infinite scrolling and images that load as you go
  • Flipcard: Photos tiled across the page and flip to reveal the post title
  • Magazine: A clean, elegant editorial style layout
  • Mosaic: A mosaic mix of different sized images and text
  • Sidebar: An email inbox-like view with a reading page for quick scrolling and browsing
  • Snapshot: An interactive pinboard of your posts
  • Timeslide: A horizontal view of your posts by time period

If you are comfortable with maintaining a traditional template, there are many reasons not to add the dynamic views to your blog.

If you wish to see your own blog or any of your favorite Blogger blogs in dynamic view, simply modify the blog URL like below:

http://(your blog address)/view/(view type)

I do not intend to switch my blog to one of the dynamic views, but you may click Preview to check it out with Dynamic Views:

Note:
Several official Google blogs and many others have already switched to the new templates.

Here is a list of the dynamic views along with links to some favorite blogs where you can check each of them out in action.

If you are not comfortable in setting up and maintaining a traditional template or you have liked dynamic templates then enabling a dynamic view is very simple.

Enabling Dynamic View

To configure your blog with Dynamic Views, click on the Template tab. In the Template Designer, select a default view for your blog from one of the seven available views. Note that readers can still choose to navigate your blog in a different view by selecting from the pulldown in the upper left of the screen. Setting a default view simply establishes which Dynamic View your blog will display when a reader visits it.

Enable Dynamic View

Dynamic Views will work on your blog if the following are true:

  • Your blog is public. Your readers don’t need to sign in to view your blog.
  • Your blog has feeds fully enabled. In the Settings | Other tab, you have chosen “Full” for Allow Blog Feed.

Using the Template Designer, you can now modify your background, fonts, or colors, and add a custom header image (just make sure it’s 65 pixels high).
