Google Feature – Share Box on Home Page
The Google bar that spans across Google products updated its look on November 29, 2011.
The new gray bar contained links to your services in a drop-down menu on the left, and a share box on the right. Later on, the drop-down menu was replaced by the old horizontal black bar.
Google had introduced the new bar with plenty of flexibility for the future. We expected more changes in future.
The share box enables you to share to your circles on Google+, no matter what Google product you are using. You will see a Share button across all products, such as Google Maps, Google News, Gmail, Google Docs and Google Reader. YouTube seems the only exception to sharing. Clicking on the share button opens a box for adding updates to your Google+ account. Just write in the share box, select the circles you would like to share with, and post. The icons at the bottom of the box can be used to add photos, videos, links, or share your location.
Search and Share from Google Home Page
Until now, Google’s home page has never allowed you to directly do anything other than search. For the first time ever Google Home Page itself gets the Share Box for Google+ sharing. Google has added a share button in the top right corner of its search page.
The share button also appears on the search results page.
The update is rolling out to all users in the coming weeks. This will encourage global users to join Google+ and also to share immediately as they come across something in a search.
