December Global Festivities — New Year’s Eve 2017
Google is marking this year’s December global festivities with a continuous series of interactive holiday Doodles about a pair of penguins’ holiday to visit their warm-weather relatives, a toucan and a parrot. The series started on December 18 of the Christmas season showed penguins and a parrot on a call, seemingly planning the holidays. The doodle also showed the penguins packing for a vacation. December 31 is Day 3 of December global festivities. This series would reach its conclusion on January 1, 2018.
The third installment in the December global festivities series, published today, shows in the first panel that our feathery friends have ended their delicious traditions with cone ice-cream.
New Year’s Eve is the last day of the year and the day before New Year’s Day, which marks the start of a new year. Google is all set to welcome 2018 with the New Year’s Eve doodle today. Midnight between New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day is often marked by fireworks and fire crackers.
The second panel is the same as that of Day 1 and Day 2 doodles. It shows the penguins making plans with their southern relatives and packing their bags for a tropical holiday inside their icy igloo.
The third panel is the same as that of Day 2 doodle. It shows how happy to be together for the season of cheer, this colorfully feathered family can’t wait to sink their beaks into a delicious feast.
Perhaps they are inserted as a reminder of first two days of the December Global Festivities by Google Doodle.
The fourth panel shows our feathery friends have enjoyed their delicious traditions and are now ringing in the new year with sparklers in hand. As they all admire the fireworks overhead, they think about how much fun it was to spend this time together.
The Doodle’s final panel is repeated on each doodle. It includes a past photo of the reunited family, as well as a pile of wrapped gifts that hint at the series’ next installments — Dec. 25, Christmas Day, Dec. 31, New Year’s Eve, and finally, Jan. 1, New Year’s Day — that will pick up the penguins’ adventures as they travel to warmer climates to enjoy the December global festivities together.
