400th Death Anniversary of William Shakespeare
April 23, 2016 is the 400th death anniversary of William Shakespeare, famously known as the Bard of Avon. He was baptised on April 26, 1564 and died on April 23, 1616 at the age of 52.
William Shakespeare was a renowned English poet, playwright, dramatist and actor as well. He is often called England’s National Poet. His extant works, including collaborations, consist of approximately 38 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and a few other verses, some of uncertain authorship. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright.
Google doodle celebrates the incredible work of William Shakespeare on his 400th death anniversary. The doodle features the bard in the middle, with four illustrations of his famous works on either side of him. The illustrations depict some of his most iconic plays like Hamlet, Julius Ceaser, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest, King Lear, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
