The popular blogging platform WordPress have announced on their official blog the end of support for PHP 4 and MySQL 4 in the near future. WordPress 3.2 is going to be released very soon, and will require PHP 5.2.4 and MySQL 5.0. With 3.2, WordPress is also dropping support for Internet Explorer 6.

According to Net Applications, usage of IE6 was still at a high 12% last month. Microsoft wants to have that number reduced to less than 1 percent. Wishing for the end of IE6 usage, the software giant took a stand by launching a new website on March 4, 2011, The Internet Explorer 6 Countdown, with the slogan, Moving the world off Internet Explorer 6.

Facebook users still using Internet Explorer 6 browser may have to soon upgrade, otherwise they won’t be able to chat on the popular social networking site after September 15.
