Stumpy, a ten year old elephant, is the official mascot for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. He was unveiled at a function in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on Friday, April 2, 2010. He is very young, enthusiastic, and bursting at the seams with his love for cricket and its heroes. He thinks cricket is the most fun game in the world. He loves playing street cricket, would play 24/7 if he could, and dreams of playing in the World Cup one day.
The 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup will take place between February 19 and April 2, 2011. The tenth Cricket World Cup will be hosted by three South Asian Test cricket playing countries: India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Bangladesh will be co-hosting a Cricket World Cup for the first time.
Mascots are an integral part of the Commonwealth Games since 1978 and are responsible for promoting the event and bring commercial success to the international sporting event. The official mascot for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi is Shera, a friendly Royal Bengal tiger.
