There are many cool online twitter search and discovery tools. TipTop, an innovative twitter conversation search engine, is one of them. TipTop searches and discovers useful tips around twitter and displays sentiments of what people are talking about into two main categories, ‘Tips’ or ‘piTs’. ‘Tips’ are positive sentiments where as ‘piTs’ are mainly negative content, nevertheless equally useful.
TipTop carries out semantic analysis of conversational data and messages on the social network Twitter. It reveals interesting sentiments and insights as regards to any concept or idea that is discussed on the social web at any given time. It is not always perfect in it’s semantic filtering. During this IPL T20 cricket season, I always tweet the latest result in the same format as Team ‘A’ defeats Team ‘B’. If one team wins, the other one loses. So the sentiments are mixed, and depends upon which team you support. Just because of the word ‘defeats’ my tweet fell into ‘piTs’ though on that day my home team had won, and my sentiments were high. So I should have tweeted as Team ‘A’ wins over Team ‘B’.

As a result, it can discover from within the data the very best tweets organized nicely along a variety of categories and concepts learned dynamically. In fact, the entire platform learns from data as data flows through the engine. You can now see in real time the sentiment associated with anything in the world that people are talking about. The engine may not be so intelligent but it’s a novel and unique concept and does a great job.

Please also note that the social aspect is very important. You have to use the various interactive features such as I Like, Tip off, Retweet, and Reply to get the most out of the product.
