Twitter News – Official Twitter India Account
Twitter was created in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams and Biz Stone, and launched publicly on July 15, 2006. Since then Twitter has gained popularity worldwide and is estimated to have over 200 million users, adding more than 5,00,000 users every day.
Twitter has about 22 own accounts, mostly help and support, like @twitter, @twitterapi, @spam, @feedback, @support, etc. If you follow these accounts then you rceive useful messages from them on your timeline. In fact, I have curated a list:

Twitter also has official twitter accounts for seven countries:
@twi (India – 120,074 followers),
@twitter_kr (Korea – 73,996 followers),
@twitter_es (Spain – 4,778,915 followers),
@twitter_fr (France – 427,507 followers),
@twitter_de (Germany – 319,857 followers),
@twitter_it (Italy – 349,478 followers), and
@twj (Japan – 630,703 followers).
You may see that except for Korea, created recently on January 19, 2011, all others have large number of followers. I am pained to see that as compared to others @twi has only 120,074 followers.
As of April 20, 2010 India had 1,026,063 (0.97%) Twitter users (source: Sysomos). It must have grown considerably in the last one year. I feel many Twitter users from India are not aware that India has an official Twitter account.
Twitter created the official account @twi for Twitter India in February, 2010. क्या हो रहा है? (Kya ho raha hain? – Whats happening? in Hindi).

The first tweet sent out from the official Twitter India account by Pankaj Gupta (@pankaj), Tech Lead in Twitter, on Feb 18, 2010 was: क्या हो रहा है? Since then it has tweeted only 202 times, rather low.
