Papercraft

Weekend Image Post – Papercraft

Papercraft, also called paper models or card models, is a form of crafting in which sheets of heavy paper, paperboard, or card stock are used to create three dimensional objects such as designer toys, models or sculptures. Some people refer to papercraft as pepakura, in an homage to the large Japanese papercrafting community.

Use of paper, glue, paint and a few other tools make for exciting and beautiful papercraft. Papercraft can be small or large, humble or ambitious, and there is no limit to the variety of things one can make out of paper.

Most papercraft is the hard work and dedication of talented artists. One such talented papercrafter from Jakarta, Indonesia is Ruang Antho in whose hands paper can take interesting and beautiful forms.

We are also enjoying the greatest sporting event of the world, FIFA World Cup. In this weekend’s image blog post, we bring you three paper toys of Zakumi, the official mascot of World Cup 2010, created by Ruang Antho. They are awesome!
