Google Doodle — Republic Day of India
India’s 67th Republic Day
Today, India celebrates 63rd Republic Day. The Republic Day parade is held every year in New Delhi, and makes the celebration even more beautiful and entertaining.
In honor of India’s 67th Republic Day, Artist Robinson Wood created today’s Google Doodle as a tribute to the camel contingent of the Border Security Force (BSF) that patrols the India-Pakistan border. The colourful doodle shows men on top of six elaborately decorated camels. Each of the six camels carries a letter of the word ‘Google’ on its golden caparison.

The BSF 90-camel contingent, 54 guards and 34 musicians, first became part of this national Republic Day parade in 1976 after it replaced the Bikaner Royal Camel Force, known as ‘Ganga Risala’which had been participating in the Republic Day parade since it first took place in 1950.
