Ad Planner List

Facebook – Milestones

The search engine giant Google releases a list of the largest 1,000 websites in the world based on unique visitors. This list is updated monthly as new Ad Planner data-sets are released.

Social networking site Facebook has been adjudged as the most visited site on the web in April, 2010. According to Google’s Ad Planner stats, Facebook scored more than 540 million unique visitors in April, reaching a whopping 35.2 per cent of the Internet population.

Besides, Facebook also recorded 570 billion page views during the month, ahead of other sites like next ranked Yahoo! with 70 billion views, and Craigslist (49th) with 14 billion views.

Facebook is followed by Internet major Yahoo!, which witnessed about 490 million unique visitors. In addition, search engine live.com with 370 million unique visitors, dictionary and encyclopedia Wikipedia with 310 million, and web portal msn.com have been ranked third, fourth and fifth respectively.

Facebook’s other competitors among social networking sites include microblogging site Twitter (18th) with 98 million unique visitors, Myspace (26th), Google’s Orkut (45th), and Linkedin (56th).

Blogging sites on the list are Blogspot (Blogger) (7th) with 230 million unique visitors, and WordPress.com (12th) with 120 million.

Search engines on the list are Live.com (3rd), Bing.com (13th) with 110 million, and Ask.com (20th) with 88 million.

News source sites on the list are Cnet.com (35th), BBC.co.uk (43rd), CNN (64th) and NYTimes.com (83rd).

Other note worthy sites on the list are Microsoft (6th), Bing (13th), Adobe (14th), Amazon (22nd), eBay (24th), Apple (27th), and Hotmail (30th).

Interestingly, the Ad Planner list did not figure Google’s own sites, like Gmail, News, Search, Buzz, and YouTube.

The list helps advertisers to plan where they may place ads, and displays the number of visitors from around the world.

Wikipedia (4th) and Mozilla (10th) are the only two websites in Google’s top 10 that do not display advertising.
