GoldenTwine Informatics News — Happy New Year 2019

New Year’s Day, also called simply New Year, is being observed on January 1 each year. It marks the start of the year on the modern Gregorian calendar as well as the Julian calendar.

In pre-Christian Rome under the Julian calendar, the day was dedicated to Janus, the God of beginnings, after whom the month January was named.

New Year’s Day is probably the most celebrated holiday. New Year Day is a public holiday in many places around the world including in India. It is usually observed with fireworks as the clock strikes midnight, and the new year starts in each of 24 time zones spread across the globe.

New Year’s Day celebrations vary widely across different cultures. Global traditions include making New Year’s resolutions for the year, and calling one’s friends and family.
