Google dedicates doodle to India Independence Day 2018
August 15, 2018 marks the 72nd Independence Day of India.
A Google Doodle is a temporary alteration of the logo on the homepage to celebrate holidays, events, achievements and people. Search giant Google dedicated its latest colorful and vibrant doodle to the India Independence Day 2018. Google mentioned that the doodle was a tribute to truck art seen on Indian roads. The doodle features images of some of India’s iconic colorful plant life like the mangoes and the lotus, a peacock-couple at the centre, flanked by an elephant and a tiger, with the sun rising in the backdrop.
Google said, ‘A long-standing tradition in this four million square kilometer nation where truckers who live on the road surround themselves with cheerful folk art to occupy their minds during long months away from their families.’
On clicking the doodle, it takes the visitor to Google search result page for news on India Independence Day 2018.

Google Doodle celebrates India Independence Day 2018 in today’s Google Doodle.
Thousands of kites dot the skies over India as the country celebrates its 72nd Independence Day. Both a solemn and joyful occasion, this marks the day in 1947 when India became an independent, autonomous state, fulfilling the dream of leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru.
Commemorations begin on the eve of August 15, when the president delivers an address to the nation and citizens reflect on modern India’s origins as they look with pride toward the future. On Indian television you will find films honoring India’s history running around the clock. Crowds of people sing the national anthem, Jana Gana Mana, which was played in 1947 at the United Nations to mark India’s entry.
Today’s Doodle, featuring images of some of India’s iconic colorful plant life and mighty animals, was inspired by Indian truck art, a long-standing tradition in this four million square kilometer nation where truckers who live on the road surround themselves with cheerful folk art to occupy their minds during long months away from their families.
