Indian Festival of Durga Puja — Maha Saptami

Durga Puja, also referred to as Durgotsava (Festival of Durga), is a famous annual Hindu festival marked by worship of goddess Durga over the last five days of Navratri, in the Ashwin month of the Hindu calendar. These five days are observed as Sasthi, Saptami, Ashtami, Navami and Vijayadasami. The festivities culminate on the tenth day on Vijayadasami when Durga idols are carried out in grand procession and immersed in the river or other water bodies.

Durga Puja is a festivity of Good (goddess Durga) over Evil (demon Mahisasura). It is a worship of power of Good which always wins over the bad.
