Indian Festival of Durga Puja — Mahashtami

Durga Puja, also called Durgotsava and Navaratri, is celebrated with great enthusiasm. Durga Puja is the most significant and eagerly awaited Hindu festival in West Bengal. It is also the most significant socio-cultural event of the state. The festival is observed in the Hindu calendar month of Ashvin, typically September or October of the Gregorian calendar. The celebration of the festival occurs on five consecutive days: Sasthi, Saptami, Ashtami, Navami and Dasami.

It is another festival that depicts the triumph of Good over Evil as it is celebrates the victory of goddess Durga over demon Mahisasura.
