Today marks the 85th birth anniversary of legendary actress Meena Kumari (August 1, 1933 – March 31, 1972), born Mahjabeen Bano. The multi-faceted artist was an iconic star of Hindi cinema. She was also a playback singer, and a talented Urdu poetess under the pseudonym Naaz. Tanha Chand, a collection of her poems was published after her death in 1972. Remembered as the tragedy queen, she is also called Female Guru Dutt of Hindi films and is often remembered as the Cinderella of Indian films.
Today marks the 110th birth anniversary of Mary Ann Evans (January 8, 1908 – January 9, 1996), better known by her stage name Fearless Nadia, was an actress and first stuntwoman of Indian Cinema. She married Homi Wadia in 1961 and became Nadia Wadia. Fearless Nadia will always be remembered as the original Stunt Queen of Indian cinema. Google Doodle pays tribute to Fearless Nadia on her 110th birth anniversary.
