Maha Shivaratri or ‘Great Night of Shiva’ is a Hindu festival celebrated annually in reverence of the God Shiva. It marks the convergence of divine powers of God Shiva and Goddess Shakti. On the auspicious day, devotees observe fast and keep vigil all night. Maha Shivaratri is celebrated on the Krishna Paksha Trayodashi or Chaturdashi of Hindu calendar month Phalguna which falls in February or March as per the Gregorian calendar.
