World Diabetes Day (WDD) is observed annually on November 14, a campaign focused on spreading awareness about a condition which affects an estimated 371 million people globally. Established in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), with support from the World Health Organization (WHO) in response to growing concerns about the escalating health threat posed by diabetes, World Diabetes Day became an official United Nations Day in 2006. The theme for WDD 2017 is Women and Diabetes – our right to a healthy future.
