Twitter’s 20 Billionth Tweet

Twitter reaches another milestone hitting 20 billion tweets.

20 Billionth Tweet

Twitter – Milestones

Twitter reached 15 billion tweets at the end of May, 2010, three months after it broke the 10 billion count, and eight months after the 5 billionth tweet.

At that time we brought you the Giga Tweet Counter live on our blog post: Giga Tweet Counter, Counting Number of Tweets.

According to tracking service Giga Tweet, Twitter has now crossed a record 20 billion tweets, just two months after the previous milestone of 15 billion tweets (see the live counter in the blog post mentioned above).

Twitter sets this milestone at 1544 GMT, 11:44 a.m. EDT Saturday when a Japanese twitter user sent world’s 20 billionth tweet of the four-year-old website.

Twitter user GGGGGGo_Lets_Go, a Tokyo graphic designer for an advertising agency tweeted something that is hard to translate. He said that it was part of a conversation between him and another user about a third party.

According to BBC, the tweet said: “So that means the barrage might come back later all at once.”

He later posted another message, saying: “Looks like I posted the 20 billionth tweet. I’m getting replies from people all over the world. It’s scary. What are the chances? Maybe I’m going to die. Is it more amazing than winning the lottery? I thought it was a joke.”

As congratulations from Twitter users across the world started pouring in, the self-declared fan of Tokyo Yakult Swallows baseball team tweeted: “I’m grateful and humbled by those who are visiting because of my 20 billionth tweet. Be warned, I tweet a lot about baseball.”

Social Media consists of media that support and encourage social interaction among users. For instance, online discussion forums are designed to allow people to post messages and for other users to respond in kind.
While there may be social aspects to any medium (e.g. links to share an article by email), social media typically refers to those media whose major functions are oriented toward sharing of information, and consequently most of the information on such media are generated by users. Common examples of social media sites are Twitter and Facebook.
Social media marketing is the process of promoting your site or business through social media channels.

A multitude of tweets. What does it mean? Everybody has a desire to express their own idea, opinion, feeling and let them read, whether they are positive or negative. It is good to develop their own idea, but is it productive to gossip and hurt anybody? It depends on how you use twitter whether you get any profit from it.

    • Whether you get any profit from twitter depends on why you use it, and how you use it. Users have different goals on twitter, and some even use it merely as curiosity.
Profit is not measured in terms of money only. You gain if you are clear as to why you use a particular service.
Social media networking is an excellent opportunity to share your news and views, along with brand promotion if you have any.
We rejoice on many counts. We celebrate birthdays even though we are getting older! Why not share a little happiness with the gentleman who has supposed to have tweeted the 20 billionth tweet. Let him enjoy some moments of glory!
We shouldn't always argue in terms of gain or loss.
Do we lose anything if we congratulate this man or celebrate this event?
