DoGooder Nonprofit Video Awards
The DoGooder Nonprofit Video Awards are presented by See3 Communications and YouTube, with support from the Case Foundation, Flip Video, and the Nonprofit Technology Network.
Founded in February 2005, YouTube is the leader in online video, and the premier destination to watch and share original videos worldwide through a web experience. YouTube allows people to easily upload and share video clips on www.YouTube.com and across the Internet through websites, mobile devices, blogs, and email.
This year, the DoGooder Nonprofit Video Awards received over 750 video submissions from more than 450 nonprofit organizations in 4 countries.
Nonprofit, marketing, and media experts such as Guy Kawasaki, Gary Vaynerchuck, and Beth Kanter had selected 16 finalists that then competed for top slots in the following categories: Best Small Organization Video, Best Medium Organization Video, Best Large Organization, and Best Innovation in Video. In addition to being rated highly, videos in the Innovation category also employed an original, interesting, or surprising video technique.
Anyone with a YouTube account could watch and vote for their favorite finalists until midnight EDT on April 7, 2010.
Winners are announced today on Saturday, April 10, 2010 on the YouTube homepage as well as in person at the Nonprofit Technology Conference in Atlanta. The contest will award a total of $10,000 in grants, funded by the Case Foundation, plus custom designed Flip Video cameras to all finalists. The winner in the Small Organization category will win a free registration to the 2011 Nonprofit Technology Conference in 2011.

Darius Goes West
Today, a short trailer for the multi-award-winning feature length documentary, Darius Goes West, won “Best YouTube Nonprofit Video of the Year.” The video is currently featured on the YouTube homepage. You might have heard an enticing offer at the 1-minute. In case you missed it….
We, the Darius Goes West Organization, are offering to send a free copy of the 1 hour version of Darius Goes West on DVD to every middle school and every high school in the country. This is similar to our letter-writing campaign last year, but this year you have to tell us that you want the DVD. The offer ends on Friday, April 17th.
To be clear: If ten teachers respond to the offer before April 23rd, only ten DVDs will be delivered. If 100,000 teachers learn about the offer, then we will deliver 100,000 free copies of the feature length film—one to each teacher/administrator who responds.
To be extra clear: Because of shipping costs, we can only offer the free DVDs to middle schools and high schools in the United States. We will ship a maximum of one DVD per school. If a teacher from your school has already contacted us, we will let you know so that you can each share the DVD when it arrives.
In the past three years over 100,000 students at over 1,000 schools across the country have hosted Darius Goes West (DGW) screenings in their communities. As a result, the DGW movie (nonprofit) has become a nation-wide grassroots movement, and the DGW Organization (nonprofit) has been able to make real strides towards finding and funding a treatment or cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).
Our motivation is to enable your motivation, because, together, we can end Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Together, we can end the #1 genetic killer of children in the world.
