Countries Already Below 1% Usage of IE6
10 years ago Internet Explorer 6 browser was born. In an era of modern web standards, it’s time to say goodbye to Internet Explorer 6.
In December 2011, USA, Czech Republic, Portugal, Philippines, Ukraine and Mexico joined the champions circle of countries where Internet Explorer 6 usage had dropped below 1 percent, ushering in a new era of modern web browsing.
According to Net Applications, there are now 12 countries where Internet Explorer 6 usage share has dropped below 1 percent. Norway was the first country to reach that landmark in October, 2010 followed by Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Poland and Austria in 2011.
Roger Capriotti, Director, Internet Explorer Marketing, announced on The Windows Blog on January 3, 2012 that IE6 usage in the US has now officially dropped below 1!

Less than a year later, I’m thrilled to say that the United States has joined the ranks of Austria, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway in dropping below 1% usage of IE6. In addition, the Czech Republic, Mexico, Ukraine, Portugal and the Philippines are also entering the Champions’ Circle. We hope this means more developers and IT Pros can consider IE6 a “low-priority” at this point and stop spending their time having to support such an outdated browser.
